Big Lots is celebrating Friends and Family this weekend, Saturday July 16 and Sunday July 17. On Saturday, 5pm-9pm, Buzz Club Rewards members will receive 20% off their purchase by scanning their Buzz Club Rewards Card. Now, if you really want to “work the deal,” hit multiple Big Lots in your area. The coupon can be printed multiple times as it is not tied to your specific Buzz Club card; it is just a generic printable coupon. Here is how I make the most of these coupon deals:

If you are unfamiliar with the locations of the Big Lots in your area, go to the website and enter your zip code to see the locations.

Create your battle plan. Make a route using the store addresses and Yahoo or Google Maps. I usually design my route in a big circle and hit about 4 Big Lots in one day. This can take 4-6 hours depending on the distance between stores, but is well worth the amount of money I will make on the sales.

If you go on Sunday, make sure you have printed multiple coupons so you have enough to use at each store you visit.

This is a great opportunity to stock up on items for your eBay and Amazon stores. Many Amazon FBA sellers rely heavily on Big Lots for inventory. Remember that Big Lots will accept returns within 30 days with the original receipt, as long as the item is in original condition. So if you over-buy, you can return some of your items. Also remember that if you are selling on Amazon FBA, you don’t have to send in your entire inventory at once. You can send in a few items, see how they perform, and decide if you want to send in the rest or return them.

June 2011: Are You Selling On Amazon FBA?

We have spent the month of June adding massive amounts of content on selling on Amazon.com and using the Fulfillment By Amazon Program (Also known as FBA). Skip McGrath and Suzanne Wells have done OnlineSellingCoach.com members only webinars on the subjects of book selling and profiting from Amazons affiliate program.

Amazon has really stepped up their game for the Online Selling Community over the last few years and in doing so has over taken eBay ranked as the 5th most popular website online according to Alexa.com.

eBay (Ranked #9) is still extremely viable but Amazon is making it easier to make more money in less time so sellers are flocking to Amazon and reaping the benefits.

Our suggestion: use both marketplaces aggressively to their fullest potential. Never put all your egg’s in one basket. Diversify your business as it is a primary key to financial independence.

2011 Spring updates on eBay Policy and Changes

Here are some important updates that all eBay sellers should be aware of. As part of your membership to Online Selling Coach you will be updated on important eBay policy changes and updates.

Most of the eBay 2011 Spring updates are fairly minor except for this first one.

1. eBay to Charge Fees on Seller Shipping Charges

Once again eBay again upset sellers with their new fee announcement –this time they raised fees to include the amount sellers charge buyers for shipping. Here are the details from eBay:

Sellers subscribed to a Store: To reward free and low-cost shipping, Final value Fee rates will be reduced and applied to the total amount of sale—including shipping—starting July 6. As always, you get the same low Insertion Fees—as low as 3¢.

Sellers not subscribed to a Store: Starting April 19, list Auction-style FREE up to 50 items a month—any start price—and add the Buy It Now option FREE to capture those buyers in a hurry. You pay only if your item sells. Auction-style Final Value Fees will apply to the total amount of sale, including shipping. Starting July 6, Fixed Price Final Value Fee rates will be reduced and applied to the total amount of sale, including shipping.

Seller discounts: eBay Top-rated sellers continue to earn 20% discount on Final Value Fees. Current 5% discount will be retired June 1 for PowerSellers who are not Top-rated. All other benefits continue for all.

eBay later clarified the policy on the message board to state that the extra fees would not apply to 1-day expedited shipping or international shipping. For these items eBay will apply the fee that they would have to a standard shipping cost

One of the biggest issues revolves around eBay’s Multi-variation listing format. This is where you can list one product with different colors, sizes, models, specs and so on. The Multi-variation listing tool has been a huge money and time saver for eBay sellers and one of the most successful tools eBay has introduced in the past few years. Let’s say a buyer buys 4 items from you. The buyer will be assessed 4 shipping charges. When the seller makes the invoice changes, or issues a partial credit –eBay will keep the FVF based on what they calculate –not on what the seller actually collects from the buyer.
